This new role involves budgeting, financial forecasts, operational analysis, and profit improvement for the various divisions of the AOL Time Warner family. These divisions include AOL, Warner Brothers, Time Warner Cable, Warner Music, Time, Inc., HBO, Turner Broadcasting, New Line Cinema, and the WB Network. Hobbs now reports directly to Mike Kelly, executive president and chief financial officer of AOL Time Warner. While in Georgia, Hobbs was the senior vice-president, controller, and chief accounting officer at Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. He joined Turner Broadcasting in 1993. His initial purpose for joining TBS was to add improvements to the budget process. Subsequently, he acquired risk management, financial reporting, treasury, shared services, tax, accounts payable, payroll, purchasing, credit, and long range planning responsibilities. Hobbs also played the role of executive sponsor for TBS' information technology functions. While at Turner, he helped to improve the timeliness and quality of financial reporting, shared services in the payroll area, and implemented staff counseling and career development programs. Hobbs' services were vital to the company during the Y2K scare. He and his team worked diligently to make sure that all of TBS' systems would continue to function well into the new year.

Prior to joining Turner Broadcasting, Hobbs was senior vice-president and audit director for Banc One Illinois Corporation in Chicago. His job was to oversee the internal audit group that focused on real estate, acquisitions, and mergers. Hobbs was also a senior manager for KPMG Peat Marwick from 1984 to 1990.

Landel C. Hobbs is a native of Fort Worth, Texas, and a graduate of Angelo State University. He has always been supportive of the arts, and he has remained involved through orchestras, music groups, jazz ensembles, and small professional recording groups. He is a member of the board of directors for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and chair of the finance committee. He has served on the national firms committee of the Atlanta based Woodruff Arts Center's Annual Corporate Campaign, is a member of the Woodruff Arts Center's finance committee, and is a patron member of the High Museum of Art.
