George Alexander, born and raised in San Angelo, Texas,

is the sixth of seven children born to Theo and Mary Alexander. Alexander’s older brothers started a home building business in 1948 and he worked construction for the business during the summers. After graduating from San Angelo High School in 1953, he joined the Corp of Cadets at Texas A&M University. In 1958, Alexander received a degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M. He then went on to Perin Air Force Base in Sherman, Texas, and served in the Air Force as an interceptor controller.
After marrying Dallas native, Georgia Chotas, in 1960, the couple moved to San Angelo in 1962 where Alexander joined his brothers as a partner in Alexander Construction Company. Alexander and his brothers have built hundreds of San Angelo homes and were involved with the development of the Southland Park subdivision, with a vision to change the use of Knickerbocker Road to a commercialized area. Alexander currently serves as Managing Partner of Alexander Construction Company and as Co-Trustee of Southland Park.
Alexander has played an instrumental role in raising funds for major community projects including the new San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, West Texas Rehabilitation Center, and the Salvation Army’s Red Shield Lodge. He has served on many local boards including the original San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, San Angelo City Zoning Board of Adjustments, Salvation Army, Rio Concho Manor, San Angelo Nature Center, Home Builders Association, and the original San Angelo National Bank (formerly Texas Commerce Bank), as well as Tom Green County National Bank.
Alexander currently serves on the Board of Directors for San Angelo National Bank, San Angelo Community Medical Center, Angelo Community Health Foundation, and was re-elected President of the Economic Development Board.
Alexander, and his wife, Georgia have three children, their oldest son William Ted, married to Lisa Alexander, youngest son Chris, and daughter Mary Jane. Mary Jane and her husband Craig Steadman have two sons, Alexander and Christopher.
