Dr. Noel Harvard Williams
1998 Distinguished Carr Scholar
Dr. Noel Harvard Williams is the Director of Pork Production for Cenex/Land 0' Lakes in Fort Dodge, Iowa. His corporate responsibilities include oversight of production for approximately 70,000 sows currently in production. Locations include Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, Georgia, Alabama, and North Carolina. He is responsible for the day-to-day operations for the Cenex/Land 0' Lakes pork production business and oversees 200 employees. Prior to his current position, Williams served as the Cenex/Land O' Lakes Swine Technical Services Manager from 1995-97 and was an Assistant Research Scientist at Iowa State University from 1992-95.

Dr. Williams is a native of Bridgeport, Texas, where he was raised on a beef cattle farm. He attended Angelo State beginning in 1986 and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Animal Science in 1989. Williams received the Carr Academic Scholarship from 1986-89 and a Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Scholarship from 1987-89. He was recognized as the 1988 Outstanding Underclassman and the 1989 Outstanding Senior for the ASU Department of Animal Science. Williams acquired an M. S. in Animal Science at Purdue University in 1991. His thesis research focused on the effects of energy level and ractopamine on finisher pig performance and carcass merit.

In 1995, Dr. Williams completed his Ph.D. in Animal Nutrition at Iowa State University where he researched the impact of immune system activation on the rate, efficiency, and composition of growth and amino acid needs of pigs.

Williams' professional honors and awards include member-ship in the Agricultural Honor Society, Delta Sigma Gamma in 1991, recipient of the 1994 National Pork Producers Council Innovative Research Award and the 1994 Iowa State University Halco Award for Outstanding Graduate Student Research. A current member of the American Society of Animal Science, Williams has served as a presenter or participant at many conferences and symposia including the American Association of Swine Producers, Pfizer Research Conference, North American Swine Nutrition Conference, Elanco Swine Nutrition Conference, Iowa Veterinary Association, University of Nottingham in Nottingham England, and American Society of Animal Science.

In addition to his many professional responsibilities, Dr. Williams has dedicated time as a volunteer with the Deer Creek Lutheran Church as a trustee. He has served on the land 0' Lakes United Way Committee, Land 0' Lakes Paint-A-Thon Committee, and Land 0' Lakes Employee Relations Council. Williams is married to Wall, Texas native and ASU alumnus ('89), Jacque (Hermesmeyer). Noel and Jacque are the parents of four children, Hayden, Hayley, Hadley, and Harvard.
