Bill Simpson
1987 Distinguished Alumnus

Bill Simpson is Vice President for Personnel for Levi Strauss & Company

and is a 1967 graduate of Angelo State College.

Simpson currently oversees personnel for Levi's 30 U.S. plants and distribution centers which employ over 20,000 employees. He has spent a total of 17 years with Levi Strauss.

Simpson was president of the first graduating class at Angelo State College in 1967. He also served as vice president of the student body for two years and was vice president of the Key Club.

Prior to beginning his career with Levi's in San Angelo in 1970, Simpson served in the United States Army stationed in Germany.

He joined Levi's in 1970 as Plant Personnel Manager and became Regional Personnel Manager in 1973. From 1975 to 1979 he served as Assistant Labor Relations Manager and in 1979 he was named Division Personnel Manager, directing the employment operations for 25 plants.

Simpson was named Director of Levi Strauss USA Personnel in 1982 and was named Vice President in 1984.

While at Levi's of San Angelo in the early 1970s, Simpson was active in the Ex-Students Association. He is currently active in the Big Brothers and Big Sisters program 1 California.

Simpson is married and he and his wife, Barbara, reside in San Rafael, California.
